FLLN Activities
Family Literacy, Language and Numeracy (FLLN) programmes enable parents/carers and children to learn together, and involve explicit learning outcomes raising standards of literacy and numeracy for both children and parents. FLLN provision helps parents/carers to help their children achieve, gives parents to confidence to learn for themselves giving them the opportunity to work towards national qualifications in literacy, numeracy and ESOL, and encourages progression to further learning. These programmes introduce adults to how children are being taught in school so that they can be confident in supporting them at home. They also develop the adult's own literacy and numeracy skills. High-quality FLLN programmes help break the cycle of under-achievement by giving parents and carers the skills and confidence to be part of their children's education. These programmes generally take place in school settings.
