This CPD event is especially tailored to help you engage with the storytelling resources in a stimulating and interactive environment. Participants will be given lesson plans for four lessons and beyond, including copies of stories that can be used and details about how to access more. NOTE: The half day session is time critical. The group will focus on 2 of the lesson plans as models, with hints and tips on how to deliver the other plans. The participation pack will contain all 4 lesson plans to take away.

Summary: Location: London The headlines shout that technology - with the wealth of choices and distractions it brings - is directly responsible for the decline of traditional reading, especially among younger adults.
The intention of this workshop is to challenge these assumptions and regain a more balanced understanding of technology and reading. The aim of the workshop is to raise awareness, skills and knowledge of how technology can, and is, being used to support and encourage reading, with the emphasis being on reading by choice or for pleasure.
Indeed, reading for pleasure is now recognised as a crucial consideration in developing reading literacy and life skills for adults. Acknowledging the increased amount of time people spend online, on mobile phones and iPods, technology should be recognised as an increasingly important medium for reading.
The aim of the workshop is to raise awareness, skills and knowledge of how technology can and is being used to support and encourage reading for pleasure. By the end of the day participants should be better able to:
* Use new devices to access electronic text
* Improve the accessibility of electronic text
* Apply technology in reading for pleasure in their professional practice
